Liz Barron is Director of Education at the National Association of Corporate Directors, working with board members and C-level leaders from Fortune 500 companies. She was formerly Director, Leadership Programs at the Brookings Institution, one of the world's best-known and most influential think-tanks.
She has lived and worked in Washington, DC since 2000 and is now based in Dupont Circle, right in the heart of the nation's capital. She currently works with corporate directors interested in fostering excellence throughout their organizations, throughout the country, and throughout the business world. At Brookings, she ran executive education programs designed to help federal managers develop vital leadership competencies, and to help business leaders better understand how the political and policymaking process works.
She has worked with many members of the Senior Executive Service and those in SES CDPs and with a range of federal managers GS13-15 (or comparable NSPS level). Liz also directed communications and marketing for the executive education team at Brookings, using her skills honed through 20 years of journalism, broadcasting, television production and marketing with world-leading companies, including the BBC and Discovery Communications Inc.
Liz is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and a member of the International Coach Federation. She is a graduate of the Georgetown Leadership Coaching program. She has worked with a wide range of high-level professional clients and will be happy to supply references.
Liz always coaches in person and not on the phone. She prefers to work in the morning from 8am and will be happy to invite you to her office near Dupont Circle or work with you anywhere in Washington DC.
Originally from Belfast, Ireland, Liz spent most of her career in London as a successful news reporter, TV producer, and network executive with the BBC, the UK's public service broadcaster. She moved to the U.S. to become Vice President of Programming for BBC America, a digital cable and television channel run in a joint venture with Discovery Communications Inc.
Liz is a part-time parent to two teenagers. Her son and daughter have been with her for 7 years and are now 16 and 19.
Liz has supplemented her business and public service experience with a Masters in Public Administration from George Washington University. She is a graduate of the Georgetown University Leadership Coaching program, accredited by the International Coach Federation. Liz is also certified to administer the Center for Creative Leadership's 360-degree assessments. She holds a BA in Politics from the University of Hull, in the UK.
Liz's extensive executive experience with multi-national companies, world-renowned non-profits, and as a leadership development professional have prepared her to help hundreds of leaders achieve great results as they rise through the ranks in both government and business.
